When Blaken founder Hendrik Jürgens lived on South Beach's Star Island in 2009, he had occasion to be at dinner parties along with P. Diddy, Gloria Estefan and even Donald Trump. Time and again, it struck him that everything was personalised, from people's ties through to the cutlery to the champagne. Everything that is, except for high end luxury watches.
Back in Germany, Hendrik started out with almost two years of product testing, building prototypes and evaluating technology research. The end result was the unique quality that each Blaken has right up to today.
In its Standard Collection, Blaken pays tribute to the simple classic designs of the 1950s and 1960s. What film stars like Cary Grant or James Dean loved in Monaco at that time, Blaken has brought back to life again with its clean black and white design for the six Rolex sport models in the Classic Collection. Whether it is a Submariner with a NATO band, like Sean Connery wore as James Bond in "Dr. No", or the timeless Cosmograph Daytona, which decorated Paul Newman's arm in "Le Mans", Blaken takes you by surprise with these classics and gives them an even more personal touch. Depending on the level of complexity, the process takes up to eight weeks, during which our engineers and materials experts turn a dream watch into an utterly personal dream watch, a handmade article that's one hundred per cent "made in Germany".
Blaken pays special attention to every detail. Our motto is "one man, one watch". From the basic model through to the finished elegant Blaken, strict quality standards apply. And at the end of these continuous checks comes a once over from the company's founder himself, because no Blaken leaves our workshops without his personal seal of approval.
